Merry Christmas 2017
Merry, Merry Christmas Friends, Family and Readers! From our family to yours we wish you peace, happiness and love this Christmas Day.
If I could share some Christmas cookies with you all I would! This year I made Melting Snowmen from Sugar Cookies (these little guys with their marshmallow heads were all the rage this year) and Honey Dough Christmas Trees. Both creations are delicious, simple and super cute.
I use the Sugar Cookie recipe from my falling-apart-from-use Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book (1953 edition) and the recipe never fails. Frosting is just powdered sugar with a small amount of water to spreading or piping consistency. If you want another cookie recipe that is also a hit and an easy base for decorations try this Honey Dough Cookie recipe from my good friend, Jan, who has left us way too soon.
Honey Dough Cookies
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix together:
1/2 c Butter
1/3 c Brown Sugar
1 Egg
1 t Vanilla (the homemade vanilla in our cook book is awesome)
2/3 c Honey
Add and mix again:
2 3/4 c Flour
1 t Baking Soda
1 t Salt
Chill dough and roll to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into shapes. Bake on greased sheet for 8-10 minutes or until your finger does not make an imprint when you touch them.
