Hard Boiled Egg – a hubby favorite
Hard-boiled eggs. My husband loves them, therefore there are always a few resting in the frig amongst their uncooked siblings. To easily tell the difference you place the egg, side down, on a smooth service, and give it a spin. Cooked spins really fast, uncooked wobbles about. My husband has an even easier way to tell the difference. He simply uses a marker and puts a big X on the cooked egg. Effective. Hmmm…it is usually us women that know how to streamline tasks.
So this is my husband’s favorite way to use a hard-boiled egg: (We love our neighbor Ben’s farm fresh eggs)
First he toasts two slices of Oroweat Honey Wheat Berry bread (his go-to favorite). Then he cuts a thick slice of a red onion and another thick slice of a juicy beefsteak tomato (we like them from our local farmer’s market). Next he cuts his hard-boiled egg in lengthwise slices. Then he mayonnaises up (Best Foods west of the Rockies and Hellman’s east of the Rockies) the two slices of Wheat Berry bread. Now he stacks all of the slices on top of each other on one bread slice, uses a heavy hand to sprinkle pepper and a slight hand to sprinkle salt, and then covers it with the second slice of bread. This is one of his favorite tastes of summer.
It should be noted that the success of this sandwich is to use the beefsteak tomato and red onion at the height of their summer season, while the tomato is super flavorful and the onion is sweet.
